Further Crosses to Proven Working Dogs According to Purpose
Phase Four is the true test of the validity of The Jojo Project. The goal of this scientific genetic dog breeding experiment is to produce something of value that is not currently available to American Jagdterrier breeders. If the dogs that are produced in the first three phases are only average or mediocre, then further interest in this line will surely diminish. If however, the product is exceptional and needed, the owners of dogs of this lineage will seek one another out to make further crosses and out-crosses. If this happens, then this project will be a success. Only time will tell. The founders of this project welcome the critical judgment of American hunters and dog breeders.
* The Coefficient of Inbreeding is a numerical value used to indicate the percentage of a certain ancestor present in a dog. A higher value in this project indicates a higher percentage of Duvadirto Jojo and his ancestors.
** CM, JE, and CG mean Certificate of Merit, Junior Earth Dog, and Certificate of Gameness.
Two crosses were made in January of 2018 in Phase Two. Deguello NLT Hooter was bred to The Cumberland Pack Gidget from the Jojo x Holle litter. Hooter was also bred to The Cumberland Pack Lucy from the Jojo x Saige litter. These two litters will be due in March of 2018.
Good news for Phase Three!
Joel Davidson's, Pepper and Jay Wohleb's, Twist have successfully raised litters outside of The Jojo Project qualifying them to be bred to Jojo through frozen breeding resources.
Initial-Litters to Proven Females
The first five litters are already on the ground out of proven hunting dogs. Jojo has been bred to The Cumberland Pack Holle Freddie's Saige, April ot Yunacite, The Cumberland Pack Etta, and a few other promising female Jagdterriers. Of these crosses, the breedings to Holle and Saige appear to be the most promising. Both these females exhibit some of the target characteristics such as small size and lack of dog aggression. Two dogs from a previous cross to Duvadirto Kacer, Deguello NLT Hooter, and Deguello NLT Twist were made available to The Jojo Project by Jay Wohleb of LaMarque, Texas. These dogs form the foundation of Phase One.
Early Linebreeding to Preserve Type
In Phase Two, promising young dogs from the first generation will be used in carefully planned line breedings to raise the Coefficient of Inbreeding* in order to preserve more of Duvadirto Jojo's genetics. One of these crosses has already been made. The Cumberland Pack Gidget was bred to Deguello NLT Hooter to produce three pups - The Cumberland Pack Kliene with James Mills in Somerset, Kentucky. The Cumberland Pack Pepper with Joel Davidson in Huron, South Dakota, and Blue Barn Desert Fox, CM, JE, and CG.** With Richard Reynolds in Tenafly, New Jersey. These three pups are a promising confirmation of this project as they are beginning to demonstrate the kind of hunting traits that are the goal of the project.

Use of Frozen Breeding Resources
There is currently enough frozen breeding material from Duvadirto Jojo for seven future litters. Two litters are already planned. The Cumberland Pack Pepper and Deguello NLT Twist will be bred at the first opportunity. The Twist litter will be the highest concentration of Jojo blood in America. This litter will be a test of the ability of this line to withstand intensive inbreeding. A similar breeding took place in Europe to produce Doki Lisi Pokot, an excellent trial and working dog. The prospects are promising.
